Fishing Rig: Tips on How to Make Slip Sinker Rigs Details Here!

There are four fishing rig types that have multiple variations that we will talk about and they are a fixed sinker rig, a slip sinker rig, a fixed bobber rig, and a slip bobber rig. There are statistics that support the fact that about three fourths of all game fish that are caught in freshwater and saltwater are caught with live or natural baits. Even the pros will switch to tipping their artificial baits with live bait when the fishing get tough. But to be honest if you do not lean to rig your live baits properly you lower chances of catching fish drastically. But don't get scared off because you don't need to learn a different fishing rig method for every type of bait. The four methods we are going to talk about are very versatile and can be used for wide variety of baits and different fishing situations with minor modifications.

For example you can use a slip bobber rig to catch fish species from bluegill from small ponds on wax worms or red worms , to catching monster catfish or northern pike using baits 12 inches long or bigger! Al you have to do is change the size of the components used to make up a slip bobber rig and you are in business to catch any size fish. You still have to learn your baits for very special applications but the majority of natural baits will work well with the fishing rig systems we have listed.

Fixed Sinker Fishing Rig

A fixed sinker rig is designed to not be able to slip when a fish swims away with your bait. This type of rig is used large fish that are not effected by a little line resistance. When you detect a bite with the fixed sinker rig set the hook immediately. There are a number of different fixed sinker fishing rigs that are used to catch fish in different fishing situations. Most different fishing situations use a different type of sinker. Look bellow to see our listing of different fixed sinkers.

Slip Sinker Fishing Rig

A slip sinker rig is designed for fish that are sensitive to any line resistance. With this type of rig a fish can take the bait bait and move away without feeling any resistance from the line. Once the fish starts moving away with the bait in it's mouth you set the hook. There are a number of different slip sinker fishing rigs that are used to catch fish in different fishing situations. Most different fishing situations use a different type of sinker. Look bellow to see our listing of different slip sinkers.

Fixed Bobber Fishing Rig

A fixed bobber rig is designed so that the fish taking your bait feels very little resistance when they take your bait. The key to having a correctly balanced fixed bobber rig is to match a proper size split shot or jig size with the size of the bobber you use. You want the weight of your bait and the weight of the jig or split shot to be enough to just barely keep your bobber afloat. When a fish takes your bait it feels no resistance from the bobber . Fixed bobber rigs are used allot when fishing for pan fish and any gamefish that can be caught at shallow depths. The disadvantage of fixed bobber rigs is that you can only set the depth as deep as the length of pole you are using.

Slip bobber Fishing Rig

A slip bobber rig is designed to be used for adjustable deep depths that are much deeper then the length of your fishing rod. Slip bobber rigs are designed to be easy to cast. Slip bobbers use a bobber stop and a bead that will stop the bobber at a set depth. This type of rig can be used to catch small or large fish.

Fishing Reel Fundamentals

I find it real hard to fish without the proper equipment. How about you? The right fishing reel is one of the most essential components of a person's fishing gear. The problem of which fishing reel to use comes because there are so many manufacturers and so many different types of fishing reels. Not including the fly-fishing reel there are three main kinds of reels - spin cast, baitcasting, and spinning reels and they all have their pros and cons.

Using a fishing reel for the first time can be frustrating, especially if the style of reel is new to you. Beginners often start with a closed-face, spin cast reel which helps keep the line from tangling and is basically push the button and throw the line out. This is the type of reel I started my son using and once he mastered the art of casting, and it is an art, I moved him up to a spinning reel

The spinning reel is probably the most popular style. With these the reel hangs under the rod and the line is held on an open spool. The line is controlled by a bail for casting and drag gears for controlling the fight. Casting takes a little practice, but keeping your forefinger pressing the line against the handle before casting will prevent the line from coming off the spool. It is a little bit harder to master than the spin cast reel but once conquered very few go back to the spin cast reel

Then there is the baitcasting reel that many weekend fishermen stay clear of. The baitcast reel takes a little more effort to learn to use. Therefore, a bit of practice is in order to become accurate and avoid backlashes in your line. Whatever you do, do not expect to buy a baitcasting reel and head out fishing without first learning how to handle it. If you do bring a back up rod and reel. This kind of fishing reel has become the favorite for most pro-bass fishermen because of both the distance and the accuracy you can achieve from them once you learn how to effectively cast your baitcasting reel.
